Why are some Live TV channels not working?
You may occasionally experience disruptions when accessing certain live TV channels. There are a few reasons why channels can go offline, including technical difficulties at the source broadcaster or intermittent internet connectivity issues.
Not to worry - these outages tend to be temporary. Service typically resumes on its own within a short period of time. Just try tuning to the channel again after a few moments.
If the disruption persists for an extended time, there may be a larger technical issue, in which case our support team will be notified to investigate. But in most cases, patience is all that's needed - things will be up and running again shortly.
Which quality can I expect the media to be?
See our Media Quality article for more info on this topic. {.is-info}
For TV Shows and Movies, the quality is up to Bluray Remux 2160p.
For Music, the quality is up to 320kbps MP3.
For Live TV, the quality is what our provider delivers us. Expect quality up to 2160p (4K).
Colors look washed out on HDR media?
If you watch HDR media on a non-HDR display, other streaming websites do a process called Tone Mapping.
From Wikipedia: Tone mapping is a technique used in image processing and computer graphics to map one set of colors to another to approximate the appearance of high-dynamic-range images in a medium that has a more limited dynamic range.
See more information here: High Dynamic Range {.is-info}
Ovo Play is capable of doing tone mapping, and if you see washed out colors on any video, let us know by opening a support ticket on Ovo Request
There are missing songs, albums or EPs for an artist/band! Why?
Our automated system works in the following way:
-
When an artist or band is imported, metadata such as songs, albums, EPs, artist information and future releases are downloaded from Musicbrainz. (Data is refreshed every day for new data)
-
This is automatically passed to Deezer, from where we source our media files, track metadata and lyrics.
If songs, albums, EPs or singles are incomplete or missing, Deezer and / or Musicbrainz does not have this content.
If you can, contribute to MusicBrainz! Your contributions will result in a better experience for you, other users and other similar services that rely on it's data! {.is-success}
We are working hard to bring other music sources to improve sound quality and availability. You can also contact us for manual correction on our content.
TV Shows are incomplete!
Our automated system works in the following way:
-
When a TV Show is imported, metadata such as episode order, seasons, status, rating and future episodes/seasons are downloaded from TVDB (Data is refreshed every 12 hours for new data)
-
This is automatically passed to our downloader, from where we source our media files.
If TV Shows are incomplete, either the downloader couldn't find it yet, or TVDB data is wrong.
If you can, contribute to TVDB! Your contributions will result in a better experience for you, other users and other similar services that rely on it's data! {.is-success}
A clear example is Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). Even though there are 5 seasons on Netflix, the show was originally owned by "Antena 3", a spanish TV channel that has made only 3 seasons. TVDB reports the Netflix order as "Alternative order", which does not reach our automated systems.
TVDB data is rarely wrong, due to their strong moderation. You can also contact us for manual correction on our content.
